Someone has hacked FrontRow so that it doesn’t require the Apple Remote control. The torrent file seems dead – but you can download it from here. (Standard warning – Downloading hacked software from unknown sources could be dangerous.)

Seems to work OK on my Powerbook.

I’ve been mucking around with trying to make my own clone of FrontRow (I call it BackRow) – so far it doesn’t do anything but scroll one menu. I’m not trying to make a MediaCentre app (like CenterStage – just a remote control like thing that uses AppleScript to control other apps.)

I saw a short clip of the new “Peter Pan” film on Jonathan Ross’s Chat show on Friday Night (he had Richard Briers on – who plays Smee.)

I noticed something in the clip that made me think that the film might be quite good – Attention to detail.

As anyone in the street can tell you Hook is an old-Etonian – and in the new film Hook sports rather a large Tattoo on his left arm – of the School Crest!

The Matrix: Revolutions

I saw The Matrix Revolutions last night – I hoped it would tie-up all the loose ends from the second film elegantly and the whole trilogy would unfurl as a brilliant piece of storytelling – How wrong I was.

They should have stopped after the First film – Which was brilliant. The last two were just (sometimes very impressive) CGI. There was very little to think about in the latter films – sometimes they tried to get new metaphors going – but as soon as they introduce them they seem to get bored of them and go into another fight.

Disappointing. [edit] – Oh yes and the last film has some of the worst dialogue in Film history. People were laughing at the “Emotional Scenes”

Hang On Lads – I think I’ve got an idea. Ummm…

I was invited to a screening of the new Italian Job film by BMW (because I bought a new Mini).
I hate to say it, but I enjoyed it. Maybe because it was free – maybe because I assumed that it was going to be very bad.

I think one of the reasons it didn’t make me very angry is because it’s effectively a different film from the Original – True, there is a gold heist, there are Minis and there are characters called Charlie Croker and Mr. Bridger – but that’s about it on the similarities front.

Does Jason Statham have some kind of contractual obligation to call people “Friend” in every film he does?

In one scene you can briefly see Edward Norton watching an enormous Plasma Screen – What’s he watching? The original Italian Job of course
