iPod Minis hit UK

£180 - not bad - although 4Gig isn’t enough for me - and because of the microdrive that they use the minis aren’t bootable. (I sometimes wipe my iPod and use it as a test install volume for developer builds of Mac OS X.)

Th perception amongst the general no-techy public seems to be that iPod mini is somehow a cheaper version of a normal iPod which is true in the sense that it costs less money, but in terms of pounds/gigabyte it’s more expensive. but then most iPod owners I know haven’t used more than a couple of gig of the device anyway.

In retrospect - I was to become a hypocrite. I now have a nano - which is *ta da* - four Gigs. I’m already finding its capacity rather restrictive. Also - since the dropping of FireWire on *all* ipods - you can’t boot from any of them

Gerry, you’ll be glad to hear that I hate Jesus back - even though he’s basically fictional.
